Owner & Chiropractor
Dr.Colton Backhaus, DC, CSCS
Dr. Colton is a North Dakota native from Bismarck, ND. He spent much of his youth rodeoing and raising horses with his parents.
He is a Black Hills State University graduate and while he attended he was a proud member of the Black Hills State University Rodeo team. During that time he had the incredible experience of qualifying for the College National Finals Rodeo three separate times. After completing his undergrad, he then continued to Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, MN to attain his doctorate in chiropractic with a sports emphasis. While there he also gained knowledge and expertise in strength and conditioning with the Human Performance Center.
Dr. Colton enjoys working with athletes and helping people to get back to doing the things that they love. When he isn’t working with patients he enjoys roping, training horses, spending time with friends and working out.
Business Manager "Momager"
Tammy Backhaus
Tammy Backhaus is cleverly called the Momager here at Belle Chiropractic – because she’s Dr. Colton’s mom. Before working very part-time doing the bookkeeping for the practice she retired in 2023 with 27 years of service to the State of North Dakota.
Tammy and her husband Troy live and raise their children in Bismarck, ND They have a daughter Carly who is married with three young boys and lives in North Oaks, MN. Dr. Colton is their middle child, a Chiropractor who lives in Belle Fourche. Their youngest son, Clayton, is a Black Hills State University senior and on the rodeo team. Clayton also owns Backhaus Blacktop Repair and Tammy has been doing his bookkeeping as well.
Tammy’s favorite pastime is doing anything with or for my family. She enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, scrapbooking, embroidery, cooking, and anything outside. She enjoys riding horses with her family, especially going trail riding and caring for the colt’s they raise.
Massage Therapist
Kaylee Eisenbarth
Hello! I’m Kaylee, the massage therapist at Belle Chiropractic. I was born and raised on a farm & ranch in rural SW North Dakota. My family relocated to the Black Hills in 2017 and I graduated from Spearfish High School and
then went to massage school at Myotherapy College of Utah in Salt Lake City.
Upon graduation from massage school, I moved back to Spearfish to be closer to my family and I have been a massage therapist here since 2021. I have worked in a variety of settings since beginning my massage therapy
career including independent, chiropractic, orthopedic, and spa & wellness.
I enjoy helping others whether it be by relieving tension, loosening tight muscles, reducing pain, assisting with injury recovery, or with stress reduction and relaxation. I am trained in a variety of modalities including
Swedish, trigger point, deep tissue, sports massage, pre & post-natal, lymphatic, and cater each massage to my client’s needs. I also offer adjunct services such as cupping, gua-sha, red-light therapy, and core stones that can be integrated into my massages to enhance the therapeutic effects.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and their golden doodles. I have a love for animals, reading, listening to music, and playing flute & piano.
Front Desk
Cindy Sartwell
Cindy comes to us with a background of over 20 years in the Automotive industry as a Project Manager and Automotive Engineer. However, her recent accomplishments were with service in a Rural Clinic Operation where she headed up the Clinic Administration Department for an FQHC facility. This organization spearheaded the development of programs and resources to better serve the rural areas of Western Kansas. Their work provided much-needed specialty care and procedures to an underserved and underinsured area that did not have easy access to major medical care.
She brings with her a desire to serve the Black Hills of South Dakota with the same dedication and commitment.
Cindy is very excited to join Dr. Colton’s team. Working with people and assisting with bringing health and wellbeing to the public has been a long-time aspiration of hers.
Although Cindy’s education is grounded in business and customer service, she has always been passionate about the great outdoors, enjoying camping, gardening, cooking, and outings with her fiancé, children, and grandchildren. She is also a proud dog mom.
Furry Office Assistant
Ella Dog
Meet Ella, the adorable border collie puppy who was only supposed to be a foster puppy for Dr. Colton, but she wagged her way into his heart and is now part of the team. With her boundless energy and infectious enthusiasm, Ella is more than just our office mascot; she's an integral part of our wellness journey. Her natural talent for bringing smiles and sense of comfort to everyone she meets makes her the perfect addition to our warm and welcoming environment.
When she's not busy spreading joy, Ella enjoys exploring the office, playing with fly swatters, taking naps and hanging out behind the front desk with her Godmother Mela. She loves greeting patients and her positive energy is contagious, and we believe she enhances the overall healing experience here at Belle Chiropractic.
When Ella grows up, outside of the office she wants to be a cow dog and help her dad move steers when he ropes. When in the office Ella looks forward to learning how to escort our patients to their designated treatment room. She is looking forward to the day she can get adjusted herself, as her dad plans to get certified in the near future to do animal chiropractic!
So, next time you visit our office, be sure to say hello to Ella. She's always ready to lend an ear, a paw, or a heartwarming woof to make your visit even more memorable.
